FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Athletics Carnival
Last week, we held our Athletics Carnival (Minor and Major Days) where House Spirit and pride were shining through as our students participated in the track and field events. Congratulations to all Houses for your sporting conduct and teamwork. Thank you to Chris Newton for his precision in planning and commitment to providing a sporting event that allowed our students to share their gifts and talents with our College community.

Semester 1 Reports
Semester 1 Academic Reports will be available for viewing/printing through Parent Lounge and Parent Orbit in the afternoon on Friday, 27 June (last day of Term 2).
These reports will outline the progress students have made in their learning for Semester 1. Our Teaching Staff welcome the opportunity to meet with our Parent/Carers to discuss the progress of your Student(s) at the upcoming Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews to be conducted in Term 3, Week 2 on Tuesday, 22 July. All interviews will be held in the Father Bucas Centre. Information regarding how to book an interview will be emailed to Parents/Carers once reports are released. Please remember that these interview times represent another opportunity for contact, and it is always possible to arrange a further time to meet with the Teacher outside of this event. I thank our Teachers in advance for their willingness to be available for these interviews.
QISSRL and QISSN Carnivals
On Friday of Week 8, the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League (QISSRL) and Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) Teams were presented at our College Assembly. This year we are excited to have four teams competing, with a boys and girls team competing in each competition. Our Inaugural Girls Rugby League and Boys Netball teams are excited to be our first teams to compete.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our 2025 QISSN and QISSRL teams all the very best for the upcoming carnivals. All of our teams have been training hard and are keen to represent our College with passion and enthusiasm. Congratulations to all the players who were successful in being selected for these teams.

Year 7 in 2026
Last week, we completed our second round of interviews for Year 7 in 2026 with prospective students and their Parents/Carers. I thank the teachers from our Senior Leadership Team and members of our Office Staff for making themselves available for the interviews. I would especially like to thank Tahnee Smith (Enrolments Officer) for her precision in the planning of these two afternoons.
A very special thank you to our Year 7 Student Ambassadors who welcomed our Year 6 students and their families to Holy Spirit College. Archie, Eric, Sophie and Tahlia were outstanding ambassadors for Holy Spirit College. I thank them for being friendly and welcoming.
As Semester 1, 2025, draws to a close today, I wish each of you a restful and rejuvenating Winter break. It has been a semester filled with growth, learning and memorable experiences for our College community. As we bid farewell to Semester 1, I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our students to their studies and extracurricular activities. I commend our students for their hard work and achievements from within and outside of the classroom.
Last Friday, I had the privilege of attending St Brendan’s 10-year celebration and Blessing and Opening of stages 4 and 5. It was my honour to take past school captains who are now in our Senior school to this event. Rory, Imogen, Patrick, Matilda and Dallas. These servant leaders continued to support the St Brendan’s community by helping to serve light refreshments. We all enjoyed watching a video of each student during their primary years.
Staffing News
I would like to welcome Louise Milne to Holy Spirit College, who will be joining our Spirit Café staff and Lauren Sonneveld, who joined our team of Teacher Assistants this Term.
Congratulations to Carla Hunt on her success with the advertised position of Pastoral Care Officer. Although we will all miss Carla’s smiling face at our Front Reception, we are delighted to see her follow her passion and put her recent study into practice. I would like to thank Carla for ten years’ service as the first face of our College. Best wishes, Carla, with your move to the Welfare Team.
Welcome back from maternity leave, Jessica Evetts! It is great to have you back with us. Jessica is working part-time in our Inclusive Curriculum Centre as a Case Manager for the remainder of this year.
On Friday, we will be farewelling Angela Fordyce (Mathematics Department) and Nathan Thompson (Physical Education Department). We thank them both for their commitment to the teaching of our students and wish them well for the future.
Thank You!
On behalf of the Leadership Team, I extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff. Your passion for education has made this semester a success. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our students’ growth and development.
