Eisteddfod Success!
We’re thrilled to share the outstanding results from the Mackay Eisteddfod, where our students proudly represented Holy Spirit College.
College Choir delivered an exceptional repertoire, placing 2nd in all four categories they entered:
- Open
- Hymn & Folk
- Folk Singing (accompanied on keyboard by Year 12 student Rory F)
- Jazz/Modern Vocal Group
Their combined efforts also earned them 2nd place overall in the Choral Championship for Secondary Schools—a remarkable achievement!
College Concert Band performed brilliantly in a highly competitive section for Developing Bands, going up against larger ensembles. Mr Bauer and I were incredibly proud of their performance and skill.
Drum Corps impressed with a powerful performance, earning a Very Highly Commended—a fantastic recognition of their talent and dedication.

FQ Northern School Futsal State Championships
Last week, Holy Spirit College proudly sent two teams – our U13 and U15 Girls – to compete in the FQ Northern School Futsal State Championships in Townsville. This prestigious tournament brought together the best school teams from Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, and Gladstone, providing a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their skills against strong competition.
Our U13 Girls team had an outstanding campaign, finishing 2nd overall, displaying great teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, our U15 Girls team fought hard in every match and secured an impressive 3rd place finish, proving their ability to compete at a very high level.
Both teams represented Holy Spirit College with pride, resilience, and sportsmanship – a credit to themselves and our College community. Congratulations to all the players and thank you to the coaches and supporters who made this experience possible.
